Matthew Kibble
Business Development Associate
Matthew is a Research Associate in Bioengineering and Spine Biomechanics at Imperial College London where he works alongside an industry partner to translate a prototype medical device into the clinic. Initially studying Physics & Classical Music at Imperial and the Royal College of Music, Matthew began his transition to deeptech entrepreneurship with a Master’s degree from the University of Warwick in 2014. He then spent the next four years working in 3D printing start-ups and freelancing across Europe, before being awarded a PhD from the University of Manchester in 2023 for his research tissue engineering the first wholly 3D bioprinted human intervertebral disc using facilities at the national Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials. Away from the lab, Matthew freelances with science advisory & advocacy groups, helping produce policy documents aligned with the UK's Science & Technology Framework and the SDGs.
Matthew brings conference organisation experience and entrepreneurial insights gained during multiple accelerator programs and competitions (Accelerate ME, AMBS Venture Further, Conception X). He is particularly interested in growing the Innovation Forum network at the interface between academia, industry, and central government.
