Professor Jeannine Horwitz-Gasol
Adjunct, Department of Economics and Business, University Pompeu Fabra
Ms. Horowitz holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a Ph.D, in the area of biochemistry and genetics from the University of East Anglia and the John Innes Institute, England and a MBA from the IESA, Venezuela. At present she is adjunct professor in the Department of Economics and Business at the University PompeuFabra and in the Department of Biological Systems at the University of Vic.
Ms. Horowitz has designed and taught courses in several areas of business, particularly Entrepreneurship, Bioentrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management and Ethics. Her research revolves around the areas of entrepreneurship education, technology transfer and social innovation. Previously, she was tenured professor in the Department of Economics and Business Sciences at the University Simon Bolivar in Venezuela, and Director of Planning and Development in the Foundation for Research and Development at the same university. She also served as international consultant and country director of the Programa Bolivar, a regional development program financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and has worked as management consultant for several institutions. Previously, she worked as a professor and researcher in Venezuela, USA and Switzerland in the area of Biotechnology.
