Educated in Scotland followed by post doc in the US and subsequent variety of Scientific positions in R & D at UCB and Genzyme (Boston, USA) focusing predominantly on, respectively, respiratory research and orphan disease. This was followed by a return to the UK to join AstraZeneca in a scientific and latterly strategic and licensing role in what was the New Opportunities group focusing on non-core disease areas, repositioning internally owned assets in addition to licensing of external assets. Currently working to develop the Scientific strategy around integration of AZ into Cambridge in addition to identifying and securing investment opportunities with our corporate venturing arm, Mediventures
