Co-founder and Senior Advisor of Oxford branch of Innovation Forum

Dr Danuta Mariola Jeziorska

Danuta co-founded Innovation Forum Oxford in 2015 with aim to accelerate innovation and aid research translation. She led the branch for two years and together with IFO team provided entrepreneurial training to hundreds of scientists in the health and life-sciences sector and built a platform for showcasing science and knowledge exchange that continues to bring together hundreds of members of academia, industry, the NHS and policy makers. Currently, she acts as a Local and Global Strategic Advisor for the organisation. Danuta also helped form TechTonic Women, to support women in the technology sector in Oxfordshire, where she is a Director and Board member.

She was recently named a as one of the Rising Stars in 50 Movers and Shakers in BioBusiness 2018 for supporting innovation from concept to market.

Danuta is currently co-founding Nucleome Therapeutics, a spinout from Oxford University that aims to transform drug discovery using the 3D structure of the genome. She also continues her scientific research at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford that focuses on understanding how genes are turned on and off during red blood cell formation.

She has an extensive expertise in the field of transcription regulation, acquired over the last 11 years, that focuses on the role of non-coding DNA, epigenetics and the 3D structure of the genome in regulation of gene expression.

Before moving to Oxford, Danuta completed her PhD in Systems Biology from the University of Warwick and obtained a BSc degree in Biotechnology from the University of Silesia in Poland.
