Iliyana Samardzhieva
Dr Iliyana Samardzhieva is a postdoctoral researcher and deep-tech innovator at the University of Glasgow. She completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering, specialising in the nanofabrication of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) biosensors for advanced diagnostics.
Her current work focuses on advanced materials, photonics, and semiconductor manufacturing, with an emphasis on translating research into real-world impact. As an Innovate UK ICURe alumnus, she is passionate about technology commercialisation and is actively involved in Innovation Forum Glasgow, supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening connections between researchers, founders, investors, and industry across Scotland.
