Business Development Associate - Central Team

Career description

We are looking for a Business Development Associate to join the Innovation Forum to develop new business and grow existing accounts.

This role is the perfect opportunity for those with a MSc or PhD in a scientific topic or those completing an possessing a business degree (or pursuing an MBA) wishing to move to industry in a business development capacity and take a positive step towards self-development and growing their earning potential. You will be required to identify and present sponsorship opportunities to an array of senior decision makers across the healthcare industry as a primary vertical. The focus is therefore to identify leads, build strong value-based opportunities, close business and nurture long term account-based relationships.

This is a high-tempo role that will be ideal for someone who is a natural born sales professional capable of having intelligent conversations with c-level executives and presenting value propositions relating to conference sponsorship and client business development investment.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand specific client challenges in the healthcare and pharma markets we serve
  • Build up a thorough understanding of our products, the industry and the competitors
  • Maintain regular contact with future clients and formulate innovative, creative sponsorship packages for their business
  • You will need to enjoy cold calling and building new data that will result in potential prospects being developed and then converted into deals
  • Sponsorship sales-selling B2B is not essential but an advantage
  • Strong communication skills with good administrative skills (to manage leads, pipeline and report upwards)
  • Ability to work within a team and to deadlines
  • Will work well under pressure and be driven to hit set metrics and targets
  • Thinks outside the box to create value for prospects and clients

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A highly motivated and ambitious individual who has a related background and understanding of the healthcare industry
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of clients at all levels.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for researching and presenting ideas
  • A desire to develop themselves and others as a sales professional

Multiple roles are available that specifically focus on:

  • Global Business Development Branch Coordinator
    • Focus on training and supporting local branches to enhance their business development
    • Consider synergies between business development of different branches – e.g. approaching larger deals that involve multiple locations
  • IMAGINE IF!
    • Engaging with start-up and investor communities
    • Engaging with service providers and medium to large pharma companies
  •  
  • Global conference
    • One role engaging with investor communities
    • Other role focused on start-ups
    • Ideally based in Barcelona

Please note that this is a voluntary position as the Innovation Forum is a non-profit organisation. However, there are opportunities for commission on completed deals.
