Join us for Founder’s Unfiltered –Stories, Struggles and Breakthroughs, the launch event of Innovation Forum Glasgow, bringing together founders, researchers, and innovators from across Scotland to share honest insights from the startup journey.
Featuring a panel of founders from the medtech, health-tech, and deep-tech sectors, the session will explore the realities of building a company—from early challenges and tough decisions to key breakthroughs and lessons learned.
Designed for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs, this event offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced founders and connect with Scotland’s growing innovation community at the ARC, University of Glasgow.

He is the founding Managing Partner of the advisory group, Exolta Capital Partners, and Founding Chair of Scottish Business Network, the global network supporting Scottish business leaders and entrepreneurs to achieve international success.
He has enjoyed the benefits of a highly successful international career in the technology sector and now focuses his efforts on supporting owners and boards of companies to devise and implement international growth strategies. In his earlier career he has held board leadership positions with international companies achieving turnover in excess off £200m.
Core areas of focus are Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship working primarily with Scaleups. He is a regular speaker and conference host and has spoken at conferences from Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi.
Dave Hughes is a founder and speaker with a background in biomedical ultrasound and the commercialisation of academic research. He has built and led a university spin out from early concept through to international markets, working across healthcare, industrial, and wearable technology sectors. He now focuses on supporting founders through the realities of building science-based businesses, alongside his work in digital wellbeing and advisory roles. His experience spans the full journey from lab to company, including the setbacks, trade-offs, and decisions that shape what ultimately works
Dr. Kate Cameron is a leading biotech scientist and entrepreneur with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and 18+ years of experience
driving world-class research and innovation. A former Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellow, she has earned multiple prestigious awards for her impact in science and business.
As Founder and CEO of Cytochroma, she pioneers stem cell–derived human mini-organs transforming drug development, enabling more accurate, diverse, and AI drug discovery. Her technology is already accelerating breakthroughs in major diseases including obesity,
diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions, positioning Cytochroma at the forefront of next-generation_ medicine.
Dr Holly J. Butler, BSc PhD MBA is Chief Technical Officer and co-founder director of Dxcover, the diagnostics company pioneering multiomic spectral analysis for early cancer detection. A leader in clinical spectroscopy and biophotonics, she has applied extensive research experience to transition to become an award-winning entrepreneur. Holly brings both deep scientific expertise and strategic leadership to the development and scaling of Dxcover’s next-generation diagnostic platform. She has played a central role in the scientific development, clinical validation, and regulatory approval of Dxcover’s technology, including the company’s first commercial test for brain cancer. Alongside her technical leadership, she supports Dxcover’s international growth through strategic oversight of product development and market expansion.
Christopher Walsh is Co-Founder / CEO & CTO — AI researcher and entrepreneur specialising in self-supervised learning for digital pathology. With a background spanning biomedical research, oncology, and AI infrastructure, he brings both technical and strategic leadership to TileBio’s mission of unlocking new biology and improving patient outcomes.
Elijah Nazarzadeh, PhD, is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Acu-Flow Limited (trading as Nebu-Flow). Dr Nazarzadeh has a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from King's College London (UK). During his career, he has provided scientific consultation to a number of companies in the field of colloids and interface science. He developed the Nebu~Flow technology while working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow (UK) and led its development and commercialisation activities, then founding Acu-Flow Limited in 2019. Dr Nazarzadeh received a Lee Lucas Award from the Institute of Physics (UK) for his exceptional efforts in the development of Nebu~Flow technology.
