GENERAL

Q: DO I HAVE TO SHARE CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY IDEA?

No. At no stage during our programme will you be required to divulge information regarding your IP. We may ask for proof of your Intellectual Property status; this does not relate to the content of your idea.

 

Q: WHAT IS DEEP TECHNOLOGY?

Deep tech is based on genuine, novel scientific ideas that has the potential to significantly impact on the improvement of human or animal wellbeing (e.g. new medicines, medical devices, new materials or engineering solutions helping to preserve the natural environment in a balanced state)

 

APPLYING

Q: AM I  ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Probably! Teams should apply together through our registration process. An eligible IMAGINE IF! Team is composed of between two and seven members that have together raised less than $300,000 GBP (or the equivalent in local currency) within the last 18 months to fund the progress of the idea that is submitted to the IMAGINE IF! Accelerator.

Q: WHAT IF I AM A STUDENT?

You are eligible! We don’t set a lower limit on age or tertiary qualifications. Importantly you must be able to speak in technical terms about your scientific idea.

Q: WHAT IF I AM EMPLOYED?

You are eligible! We don’t set an upper limit on years of employment either.  A strong team will include those with commercial experience.

Q: WHAT IF I AM NOT A SCIENTIST?

You are eligible! A business/finance/legal/other background will compliment scientific expertise

Q: CAN I APPLY AS AN INDIVIDUAL?

No, we ask you to submit as a minimum team of two people.

Q: WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A TEAM YET BUT WANT TO APPLY?

Networking events will be available across our local branches. We will actively connect keen individuals that enquire directly to the branch closest to you http://inno-forum.org/branches/

Q: WHERE DO I APPLY?

All applications (local branch and independent stream) are processed through your registration page:

Q: CAN I EDIT MY APPLICATION ONCE SUBMITTED?

Yes. You will be able to edit the content of your application until the local /independent stream deadline, after which we will assess your team’s eligibility.

For example, You are able to submit an application with two people, and then expand your team, refine your idea and resubmit the final version before the deadline

Q: CAN I APPLY FOR A LOCAL EVEN  FROM A CITY WITHOUT A BRANCH?

Yes but you will have to be available to travel to pitch at the local branch of choice if your idea is selected.

Q: WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?

Local branch deadline: Check with your local branch. Local deadlines will close between June-July

Independant stream deadline: 1st July

Q: WHAT IF I MISSED THE LOCAL APPLICATION DEADLINE?

You can apply to the independent stream or to one of the other Innovation Forum branches competitions if their local deadlines are later than your local branch.

Q: WHAT IF I MISSED THE INDEPENDENT STREAM DEADLINE?

Unfortunately you will not be eligible for the competition! Put a note in your diary to check back with us on 1 March 2017

 

THE PROGRAMME (LOCAL)

Q: HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE LOCAL WINNERS?

A qualified panel of experts will be selected to receive all applications and judge the local final pitches on the day. These experts will be drawn from the local community of venture capital firms, tech transfer officers, entrepreneurs, academics and business leaders.

Q: HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU SELECT?

We select one winner and one runner from each local branch to move forwards into the global pool.

Q: HOW DO I DEVELOP MY IDEA?

We have a pool of mentors ready to provide expert advice on all aspects required for the development of your company/idea on progression through the initial round.

 

THE PROGRAMME (GLOBAL)

Q: WHERE AND WHEN DO THE GLOBAL FINALS TAKE PLACE?

The global finals will take place on the 22nd September in Cambridge, on the final day of the Innovation Forum 2016 Annual Conference

A diverse range of mentors will provide online e-learning content and 1-2-1 partnering access on a weekly basis.

Q: WHO WILL I PITCH TO AT THE GLOBAL FINALS?

We have sourced across our network international business leaders to judge your finals pitch.
